New Retaining Walls & Pea Gravel Walkway — Snellville, GA
A Snellville homeowner needed two new front-facing retaining walls added to her home — one on the left side near the garage and one on the right side near the house entry — along with a beautiful pea gravel walkway running from the right side of the home toward the backyard.

Project Overview

A homeowner in Snellville, GA contacted Dr. Stone Wall LLC to address sloping ground on both the left and right sides of her home's front facade. The soil was eroding away from the foundation, and she wanted a clean, structured solution that would enhance curb appeal while solving the drainage and erosion issues.

The Challenge

The property presented two distinct problem areas along the front of the home:

• Left side near the garage: Soil was dropping away from the garage foundation, creating an uneven, unsightly slope that posed long-term drainage concerns.

• Right side near the house entry: Similar ground erosion near the main entry created both a safety issue and a poor first impression for guests approaching the front door.

Our Approach

Dr. Stone Wall LLC designed and constructed two new masonry retaining walls — one on each problem side — using materials carefully selected to complement the home's existing exterior. Each wall was built with:

• Proper footing and base preparation to handle Snellville's clay-heavy soils

• Integrated drainage to prevent hydrostatic pressure buildup behind the walls

• Precisely laid block courses, level and plumb from end to end

Both walls were positioned to frame the front of the home symmetrically, giving the property a structured, well-maintained appearance from the street.

The Pea Gravel Walkway

Once the right-side retaining wall was complete, the homeowner added a pea gravel walkway running from the right side of the home toward the backyard. Dr. Stone Wall LLC prepared the path with proper edging and a compacted base before laying the pea gravel, ensuring the walkway stays defined and drains well through every Georgia rainy season.

The pea gravel adds a natural, low-maintenance aesthetic that ties the landscaping together beautifully.

The Result
